Compulsory Military Service in Myanmar
In February, the military in Myanmar passed a new law requiring all young men from the ages of 18-35 to serve at least 2 years in the army. Concern led to chaos which led to panic all across the country. Young men are now fleeing into neighboring countries to avoid this mandate. No one wants to serve a corrupt regime that took power after a free and fair election held two years ago. Glory Project has been working hard trying to protect native missionaries who fall within this age bracket. Since there is a religious exemption, we quickly made ministry cards for those serving in ministry and those at the Missionary Training Institute. Generous partners and supporters helped provide this relief to the missionaries, further blessing them in the midst of the continual strife in country. This mandate will only create further tension in country as the citizens unite to keep fighting for their freedom. Check our more information here.
